Gandhinagar Building Slab Collapse: A slab collapsed at an under-construction commercial project in the Kudasan area of Gandhinagar on Wednesday night, triggering a major rescue operation. Authorities rescued 15 workers from the site, while 12 workers were admitted to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital for treatment.
The incident took place at around 9 pm on September 9 at the under-construction site of Bosky The Empire in Kudasan.
15 Workers Rescued After Slab Collapse
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said authorities rescued 15 workers following the collapse.
Of the 15 rescued workers, 12 workers were taken to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, while authorities discharged three workers after they suffered no major injuries.
According to the latest update from the hospital superintendent, all 12 hospitalised workers are safe and none remains in critical condition.
Rescue Operation Continues at Gandhinagar Construction Site
The collapse brought multiple emergency teams to the construction site. The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, district police, district administration, SDRF and NDRF joined the rescue operation.
Rescue teams used concrete and metal cutters along with specialised cranes to remove the heavy collapsed structure and debris.
Officials continued the debris-clearing operation as a precaution to ensure that no worker remained trapped under the collapsed structure.
What Happened at the Kudasan Construction Site?
The accident happened while construction work was underway at the commercial project in Kudasan. A large metal slab collapsed during the ongoing work, bringing down part of the structure.
Authorities have not yet established the exact cause of the collapse. Officials are continuing to inspect the site and clear the debris before drawing conclusions about what caused the structural failure.
